Canada Post’s commitment to help Canadian businesses grow through e-commerce led to strong growth in the Parcels line of business in 2016.

Christmas 2016 was a blockbuster for Canada Post, shattering every previous parcel delivery record.

Nine online retailers were named the best in Canada in their categories at one of the industry’s premier events, the Canada Post E-commerce Innovation Awards. At the sold-out event tonight, the winners were recognized by the judging panel for their excellence in e-commerce, omni-channel strategies and customer engagement.

The finalists for the 5th annual Canada Post E-commerce Innovation Awards are examples of excellence in e-commerce, customer engagement and omni-channel strategies. The winners will be revealed at a gala event on September 22, hosted by TSN broadcaster James Duthie, and go home with up to $100,000 in free shipping and valuable marketing packages.

Continuing strength in the Parcels line of business contributed to a $44-million profit before tax for the Canada Post segment in the first quarter of 2016. This compares to a profit before tax of $24 million in the same period a year ago.
